Den größten Teil des Tages verbrachten wir bei bestem Wetter im sehenswerten und entspannenden Madone de Fenestre (1908m) an der französisch-italienischen Grenze, einem beliebten Startpunkt für Bergwanderungen. Am späten Nachmittag ging es dann ins Tinée-Tal zurück, bereits im Dunklen überquerten wir den Col de la Bonette (2715m) nordwärts und hielten schließlich zum Übernachten am einsamen Lac des Eissaupres (2356m).
Most of the time today we spent with best weather in the attractive and relaxing Madone de Fenestre (1908m) at the French-Swiss border. This is a popular starting point for hinking excursions. In the late afternoon we returned to the Tinée valley. Already at darkness we passed the Col de la Bonette (2715m) direction north and finally stopped for the night at the remote Lac des Eissaupres (2356m).

29. Oktober 2017 – neunter Reisetag. Für den heutigen Tag hatten wir uns vorgenommen, uns mehr Zeit für die Schönheiten der Umgebung zu nehmen als am Tag zuvor – dazu sollte es reichlich Gelegenheit geben. Schon recht früh verließen wir den Stellplatz von Saint Martin Vesubie, deckten uns in den örtlichen Geschäften noch mit frischem Proviant ein und fuhren in östlicher Richtung auf die M94 ins kleine Tal Lapassé Richtung Madone.
October 29th, 2017 – nineth travel day. For today we resolved to take more time for the beauty of the environment compared to the day before. There was finally a lot of opportunity to do so. We left the camper park of Saint Martin Vesubie quite early that day and filled up our food stock in the local shops. Then we continued eastwards on the M94 via the small valley Lapassé towards Madone.
Madone de Fenestre (Denzel-Kennzahl 520, 1903 m) erreicht man bereits nach wenigen Kilometern Fahrt durch sehr sehenswerte Umgebung. An diesem Feiertag in Frankreich waren noch viele andere Interessierte zu Wanderungen von Madone aus talaufwärts unterwegs. Already after a short ride of a few kilometers through a beautiful landscape, one reaches Madone de Fenestre (Denzel code 520, 1903 m). As it was a bank holiday, many other folks drove uphill in order to start their hikes in Madone. As usual, our interactive map (see below) shows our GPS track of the day and other aspects for orientation.
Madone (siehe auch die kommunale Webseite und Wikipedia) wirkte an diesem sonnigen, fast windstillen Tag sehr beruhigend auf uns. Den Blick auf die Berge (u.a. Cime de Gelas – 3143m, Mont Ponset – 2828, Mont Neillier – 2785m) genießend, saß man lange und hörte beinahe nichts anderes als das Glockengeläut der wenigen dort oben noch verbliebenen Rinder. Leider war die Hauptattraktion, die Wallfahrtskirche (stammt wohl ursprünglich aus dem 9. Jahrhundert), bereits winterfest verschlossen und konnte nicht besichtigt werden. Betrieb herrschte jedoch noch in der benachbarten CAF-Schutzhütte.
Madone (see also the communal web site and Wikipedia) appeared very soothing to us on that sunny, almost windless day. Enjoying the view to the mountains (among others Cime de Gelas – 3143m, Mont Ponset – 2828, Mont Neillier – 2785m) genießend, we were sitting hearing almost exclusively the distant bell-ringing of the last remaining cows up there. Unfortunately, the main attraction, the small church of pilgrimage (9th century) was already closed and prepared for the winter – thus no visit possible. The CAF facility next door though was still open.
Am Nachmittag fuhren wir dann tiefenentspannt und gut genährt wieder talwärts, passierten letztmalig Saint Martin Vesubie und dann westwärts auf der M2565 Richtung Tinée-Tal. Dort ging es dann in nördlicher Richtung weiter über Saint Sauveur sur Tinée, Isola und Saint Etienne de Tinée in Richtung des Col de la Bonette (Denzel-Kennzahl 516). Wie wir bereits zuvor mehrfach berichteten (siehe Alpen-Herbst/Autumn-Alp Tour – Tag/Day 4: Barcelonnette – Villeneuve Loubet, Cote d’Azur, Col de la Bonette, einer der höchsten asphaltierten Alpenpässe – one of the highest hardened mountain passes of the alps), ist dies mit 2715m eine der höchsten befestigten Alpenstraßen überhaupt. Da es zu diesem Zeitpunkt bereits dunkel war, gibt es keine neuen Bilder vom Pass. Auf der Nordseite des Passes stoppten wir nach kurzer Fahrt beim Lac des Eissaupres (2356m) zur Übernachtung auf dem dortigen Parkplatz. Am nächsten Morgen sollten wir dort nach frostiger Nacht einen sensationellen Sonnenaufgang erleben, die Bilder dazu gibt es dann im nächsten Post.
Totally relaxed and well-fed we then returned towards Saint Martin Vesubie and continued westwards on the M2565 towards the Tinée valley. There, we turned towards north and passed Saint Sauveur sur Tinée, Isola and Saint Etienne de Tinée towards the mighty Col de la Bonette (Denzel-Kennzahl 516). As we reported before (see Alpen-Herbst/Autumn-Alp Tour – Tag/Day 4: Barcelonnette – Villeneuve Loubet, Cote d’Azur, Col de la Bonette, einer der höchsten asphaltierten Alpenpässe – one of the highest hardened mountain passes of the alps), with an altitude of 2715m, this is one of the highest hardened Alpine roads at all. As it was already dark at that moment, there are no new images of the mountain pass. After a short ride, we stopped at the northern side of the pass at the Lac des Eissaupres (2356m) for the night on the parking. The next morning we witnessed a senastional sun ride after an ice cold night. The pictures of the latter will be published with the next post.
