Nach unserem Morgen-Spaziergang durch die Altstadt von Briancon am 14. Tag unseres Mai 2017 Frankreich Roadtrips (1. Juni 2017) traten wir die Weiterfahrt in Richtung Mont Blanc über den Col du Galibier an. Von Briancon aus geht es in Nordwestlicher Richtung durch das schöne Tal Vallée de la Guisane zunächst zum Col du Lautaret (2058m) und dann weiter hinauf bis 2556m. Es folgt die Abfahrt ins Tal über Valloire und Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne und schliesslich über die Autobahnen A43/A430 vorbei an Albertville in Richtung Chamonix. Auf unserer Karte unten ist die Strecke grün markiert.
Day 14 (June 1st 2017) of our May 2017 France road trip: After our morning stroll through the historic center of Briancon we continued our trip towards Mont Blanc via the famous Col du Galibier. Driving northwest from Briancon we passed the nice valley Vallée de la Guisane up to the Col du Lautaret (2058m) and then further up to 2556m. Continuing downhill, via Valloire and Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne, we used highways A43/A430 passing Albertville direction Chamonix. On our map below, the day’s track is marked in green.
Oben am Col du Galibier war die Fahrt durch den Tunnel (2556m) verpflichend, da die D902B wegen Schnees noch geschlossen war. Der berühmte Galibier (laut Wikipedia die 9. höchste asphaltierte Bergstraße in Europa) verwöhnte uns mit tollen Aussichten sowohl auf der Berg- als auch auf der Talfahrt.
At the upper part of the Col du Galibier (2556m), the tunnel had to be taken, as the D902B was still closed due to large amounts of snow. The famous Galibier (according to Wikipedia the 9th highest hardened mountain road in Europe) pleased us with great views and scenery driving up- and downhill.
Am Abend kamen wir am Campingplatz “Les Dômes des Miages” in Saint-Gervais-les-Bains an. In the evening, we arrived at the magnificent camp site “Les Dômes des Miages” in Saint-Gervais-les-Bains.
